Wow its been a long time!

And a lot has happened. Sorry to disappoint you my many readers :p, it has been a hectic 6 months; as I'm sure anyone who has been a student in their final year understands.
Anyway the project; much has changed its now to be a solo performance, its a shame to not be working with the lovely Emily Loombe and Tasmin Phillips but sometimes logistics decide these things. Over the last few months I have been very busy, developing the work from material developed in experimental sessions and my various dance interests and experience. Here is a snippet of whats been going on.

This segment of the work is inspired by my time with Mehmet Sander at Fierce Festival 2012, a big thanks to Mehmet for all the great experiences at Fierce working on the Impact project and the starting of a great friendship.

How does this fit with the rest of the work? Well thematically it does so seemlessly, but practically? I could say the 'Impact' has fragmented the whole work in a way I am finding very exciting and I hope you do too.

2 weeks to go, 30 spaces for audience members and hopefully 20 minutes of good art dance; wish me luck!

More coming soon.

Its been a productive week, my dancers have played with some ideas and we have some nice video too. I also came up with a proper name, which was nice and fast; so its good bye project susan and hello 'Objects and Obstacles.

So here is a short clip of Emily and Tasmin hard at work.

Finally the Beginning!

A curious title that is probably more interesting than the blog that follows it, but if I have your attention dear reader than perhaps I should welcome you.

Welcome.

Now that the welcomes are done and everyone who reads this feels like its ok that they did, I suppose you expect something of value for having done so. Well I am sorry but its early days for my 'new' project, so much so that it doesn't even have a name yet and still gets 'new' written or said whenever I bring it up; so lets call it........ 'Resolution' for now. To be honest I'd rather call it 'Project Susan' but this project is a serious one for a real degree, my degree; so I'd best try to be sensible.

But what if I was not sensible?

What if my insensible nature was to destroy my work?

Well fortunately that's the most basic element of the project. My dancers and I will be looking at how destructive experiences affect our bodies and how the way we move changes, then at the end of our lengthy investigation all you lovely people that form our audience get to see a smashing dance within a live art performance! At least that is the theory.

So I hope you will keep checking for irregular updates (some may even have pictures) as the project matures towards the performance date that should be sometime in April 2012.
